Royal Caribbean has announced that it will be removing the Sky Pad trampoline experience from all its ships starting from March 31, 2023. Although the company hasn't given a reason for the change, they have confirmed that they will be replacing the space with a new, unnamed activity. While it's not clear what will exactly replace the Sky Pad, it's expected to become a new exciting and versatile activity.

The Sky Pad was a trampoline where guests could participate in a game while jumping with the help of bungee cords and a virtual reality headset. The structure itself seems to remain in place, although the trampolines will be removed.

Royal Caribbean has confirmed that all activities held in the Sky Pad location will remain free and included in the cruise fare. The affected ships that previously had the Sky Pad are:

  • Independence of the Seas
  • Mariner of the Seas
  • Spectrum of the Seas
  • Odyssey of the Seas

In 2019, Royal Caribbean temporarily suspended the Sky Pad on all ships due to a safety review after a guest was injured and sued the company. It's unclear if this incident influenced the decision to remove the Sky Pad.

Although it's not known what activity will replace the Sky Pad, it's expected to offer guests a fun and exciting experience on the upper deck that defies gravity. What is known is that any activity occupying the space will not incur an additional cost and will be included in the cruise fare.
